Real operator, self-reported

A named, real operator ran this and shared results publicly. The figures are their own.

The post cites an ~$11 website (domain). Add your AI agent subscription; hosting can start on a free tier (check each provider).

The tool stack

Prices are the vendors' published list prices as researched in Oct 2026 and change often — always check the vendor's pricing page.

Step-by-step setup

  1. Pick an underserved local service with high-value jobs (the example: crane rental) and one specific city (the example: Laredo, Texas).
  2. Buy a cheap keyword + city domain (~$11).
  3. Ask your AI agent to build the site: service pages, service-area info, FAQs and a clear 'request a quote' form that captures job details and contact info.
  4. Deploy it, submit it to Google Search Console, and have the agent keep adding useful local content so it ranks.
  5. Route every form submission to your email/spreadsheet and log what each request is (job type, size, timing).
  6. Call local operators in that niche and offer the leads: a per-lead fee, a monthly 'rent' for the whole site, or an outright sale.
  7. Once one city/niche works, repeat the template for other cities or services.

What's automated vs. the human 5%

🤖 The machine does

  • Building and deploying the website
  • Writing local service pages and SEO content
  • Capturing and forwarding quote requests

🧑 You still do

  • Choosing the niche and city
  • Finding, pitching and negotiating with local operators
  • Making sure leads are real and handled honestly (disclose you're a referral service)

Overview

On Ep. #343 of The Koerner Office, Chris Koerner (@mhp_guy) describes using an AI agent to build LaredoCraneRental.com for about $11 after a demand/supply scan flagged a shortage of crane rental in Laredo, Texas. @Marko_Poly recapped it on X. This is classic rank and rent / local lead generation: you own the site that ranks and collects requests, and local businesses that actually do the work pay you for the leads.

The reported result (self-reported)

Per the episode and the recap, the site pulled in roughly $35,000 worth of crane rental requests (three quote requests in its first month) from an $11 website. The site is live and checkable; the lead figures are Koerner’s own.

Note what that number means: it’s the claimed value of quote requests, not revenue to the site owner. Your income is whatever an operator pays you for those leads (per lead, monthly rent, or a sale of the site). We haven’t independently verified the lead figures.

Costs

About $11 for the domain, plus your AI agent subscription. Hosting can start free.

Realistic income

Depends entirely on (1) whether you rank and get real requests and (2) whether a local operator will pay. Niches with big-ticket jobs (cranes, equipment rental, roofing, etc.) make each lead more valuable. Expect weeks to months before ranking, and some sites never get traction.

Risks

  • Ranking is not guaranteed; competitive cities/niches may need lots of content and time.
  • No buyer, no money: requests are worthless until an operator agrees to pay.
  • Honesty: don’t pretend to be the service provider; be clear you connect customers with local operators.
  • Lead quality: inflated “request value” can differ greatly from jobs that actually close.

*Income figures are illustrative ranges based on public pricing and typical outcomes reported by practitioners, not guarantees. Most new online businesses earn little or nothing at first. Not financial, legal or tax advice.
